Health and Sanitation

The program takes as a base the evaluation of the Ministry of Health nutrition projects in 1987 (in nine departments). This diagnosis showed that apart from distributing food products, most of these projects did not have other components, so Prisma designed an intervention that used the findings of the longitudinal research on child malnutrition, which it carried out in the southern cone of Lima, to complement the distribution of food donated by the AID, thereby improving the nutrition of the under-3-year olds attended to by the Ministry of Health at the national level.

Objective: To improve the health and nutrition status of mothers and children under 36 months of age in families identified to be at risk of suffering chronic malnutrition.

Source of funding: USAID

Project area: All regions of Peru

Duration: 1988 – 2000
