    The Second Goal of the FOROLAC is promoting and supporting multisectoral action among key actors in the region to harmonize, complement, maximize and sustain resources and efforts, and improve the wide range of Reproductive Health Supplies assurance, access to information about prices which will improve the negotiation capacity in procurement processes and it will allow a better allocation of resources for obtaining a greater range of products.
    This opens the possibility for the FOROLAC to develop, host, operate and manage a website to track the evolution of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SSR) medication and supplies prices in the public institutions of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in order to get better market prices while preserving quality in the products. The project describes the PRISMA activities which support the accomplishment of this goal and to contribute to improve the availability, second pillar of the coalition and the FOROLAC.

    Goal:

    • Build and operate a website which can manage the information of public procurement in LAC and can allow registered users access prices, quality characteristics and other critical information of contraceptives supplies and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SSR) medication for informed decision making for stocking.

    Specific goals:

    • Design and develop a platform to manage the public purchase information on sexual and reproductive health medication and supplies in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.
    • Implement the SEPREMI -SSR web platform.

    Duration: September 2018 – April 2020 (extension up to September 2020).

    Expected Results:

    • SEPREMI-SSR is a permanent management platform which receives and analyzes information on prices and conditions in order to procure reproductive health medications and supplies, to create and distribute technical reports which show the evolution of current prices of the SSR supplies purchased by Latin American and Caribbean countries, their origin and quality in order to strengthen their negotiation capacities, guarantee quality purchases at the best price of the market. This will be the first virtual platform on prices for SSR products aimed at creating a Latin American information network for procurement SSR medications and supplies.
      This platform will help benchmark other government’s procurement agencies to later compare the prices of other products, even in the private sector. FORO LAC hosts and operates the platform.

    Achievements:

    • SEPREMI platform implemented, constantly updated and maintained.
    • Three tutorial videos for SEPREMI users.
    • A published promotional video about the benefits of SEPREMI in Nicaragua.
    • 14 countries partners of SEPREMI (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Dominican Republic).
    • Preliminary version of the sustainability plan.
    • Protocol for scarcity risk monitoring in countries in the LAC region.
