Forming and promotion of the Kiwicha value chain in the provinces of Yungay and Huaylas

This project proposed an improvement in the management of the Kiwicha crop, in the phases of production, harvest, and post-harvest, through the installation of seedbeds, implementation of good agricultural practices, by means of integrated management of the crop (organic trend) and capacity building in harvest and post-harvest.  It also sought to strengthen producers’ links with markets and access to markets through producer organizations, taking advantage of the opportunities arising in the domestic and international market.  In recent years there has been a tendency to consume natural and organic products with high nutritional value for personal care and health.

    Objectives:

    1. To ensure that organizations of small-scale producers participate actively in the Kiwicha production chain.
    2. To strengthen producer organizations in business management and technical-production aspects, by training and productive technical assistance.
    3. To help organizations of small-scale producers of Kiwicha and corn to supply and sell quality products in response to market needs and in the framework of the profitable production chains.
